Gillian Savage
Gillian Savage, Director, has a BA from Macquarie University, with majors in Psychology and Literature. She is a member of the Australian Social and Market Research Society with QPMR status and the Evaluation and Visitor Research Special Interest Group of Museums Australia.
Gillian began her career in market research in London in 1973 working for the premier qualitative researcher Peter Cooper. On returning to Australia in 1976, she continued to carry out qualitative research while also developing a high level of expertise in quantitative research. She joined Environmetrics in 1991.
Her extensive experience as a senior researcher has given her a range of high-level skills. She has particular strengths in researching complex topics, and is skilled in qualitative, quantitative and observational research methods. She particularly enjoys the challenge of defining problems and assisting in developing creative solutions to them.
Gillian is highly experienced in clarifying issues and drawing out implications from a range of research data. She is an excellent communicator and a very competent project manager. Her special interests include social/cultural environments and issues in communication and education.
Gillian lectures in the Master of Museum Studies course at the University of Sydney. She has also run training workshops in visitor research and co-authored the Practical Guide to Evaluating Natural and Cultural Heritage Interpretation.
In 2002, she co-authored Energised, Engaged and Everywhere: Older Australians and Museums.
In 2004, she co-authored Knowledge Quest: Australian Families Visit Museums.
